What is xAPI? This xAPI training course will cover it all!

You’ve heard about xAPI – the Experience API or the Tin Can Project – but what is xAPI? Maybe you’re not quite sure what all the buzz is about. As adoption of xAPI begins to take hold, it allows for more robust and interesting tracking of the learning process. As actual performance and results data are integrated with learning metrics, we will have the data we need to tailor the learning process to individual needs while we can draw more useful conclusions about the learning across a wider population. In this xAPI training class, we’ll look at what xAPI can do for you, what tools and platforms you’ll need, and how to get started.

Who should attend this class?

  • Anyone who is new to xAPI and needs to get started
  • Experienced instructional designers who are curious about the opportunity xAPI represents but don’t know how to communicate it to get buy-in
  • Leaders, managers, instructional designers, and others who need to understand where learning analytics is heading

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students can speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Need something a little more personal?

We understand your team might have specific training needs and we would love to work with you. We offer both online and on-site instructor-led, fully customizable courses tailored to your training needs.

After a brief introduction to xAPI and what's new about it from the instructional design side, we'll discuss three key areas that impact instructional designers:

  • Identifying learning data needs, data sources, and meaningful visualizations that answer organizational and L&D questions
  • Making choices about infrastructure: how and when to work with your LMS (Learning Management System), your LRS (Learning Record Store), or both
  • Models for taking advantage of xAPI across a variety of learning vectors: formal & informal, social & private, formative & summative, predictable & variable

Thank you Kevin for all of your help!! You gave me the "keys to drive" so I would be able to interact in the midst of my technical difficulties. (We gave Cherelyn keyboard and mouse control of our computer when her Storyline software refused to open. She was able to fully participate in class.)
