eLearning has come a long way from the days when anyone with a YouTube account could just hit “record” and start talking and clicking through a software demonstration. Today we may be creating anything from those same point-and-click demos (now called "video demos" or “microlearning”) to immersive and highly interactive software simulations.

Beyond the planning, budgeting, and instructional design required by all eLearning, software simulations require two critical documents: a step-by-step recording script and a voiceover script. The recording script is used to record the software simulation using any eLearning development tool such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or TechSmith Camtasia. And because adding voiceover narration to eLearning enhances the learner experience, a voiceover script ensures the audio you include is as polished as it is conversational.

During the first part of this high-octane, hands-on class, you'll learn the process of writing and testing the kind of granular, step-by-step procedures needed to record a software simulation. Then you'll write a voiceover script to complement the recording script. In the afternoon, you'll put it all together and record the simulation and your voiceover in your eLearning tool of choice. (Bring Captivate, Storyline, or Camtasia to class... we've seen, and have expertise in, all of them!)

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by an eLearning expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between a virtual and onsite class? Nothing.... except no travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! You can speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as you work in real-time to complete course activities.

Create a Step-by-Step eLearning Script for a Software Simulation

In the morning, you'll write a step-by-step script that will serve as the foundation of the eLearning project you'll create in the afternoon. You'll learn the importance of detailing every step in the process, no matter how trivial the step may appear. You'll get introduced to some of the aspects of technical writing that will help ensure the script you create is as streamlined as it is accurate.

Create an eLearning Voiceover Script

After the morning break, learn how to write an effective voiceover script that you'll use in the afternoon when you add voiceover audio to your software simulation. You'll learn how to write a script that is as engaging and informative as the simulation it will support.

Create a Software Simulation

After lunch, return energized and ready to put all of your skills together. You'll rehearse your software simulation script, rehearse your voiceover audio, record a software simulation, and record supporting voiceover audio. And you'll do it all under the watchful eye of your instructor and in your eLearning tool of choice. Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or TechSmith Camtasia... the choice is yours.
