Choosing Your Online Training Platform

Choosing and then using an online training or meeting platform—or being able to work with one that your employer or client provides—is crucial to your success in online training. In this session, we will compare the features, pros, and cons of the major online training delivery platforms. We’ll look at:

  • The major players
  • Other options
  • Features
  • Costs
  • Other decision factors

Where is this class held? 

This is a live, online class led by an experienced eLearning developer. Just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

In this class you’ll see inside each of the major online choices. We’ll look at features and costs, and then you’ll view and evaluate the online experience in each online solution.

Each of the major vendors offers various levels of functionality at different cost points—often including a free option! What do you get at each level? How can you compare that across different vendors? What do you need in your online solution?

As time allows, we’ll also look at Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams, and Skype for Business.

About Your Instructor

Jennie RubyJennie Ruby has been delivering online training since 2001. She is a founding member of the International Council for Certified Online Training Professionals. She is the president of EditorialTraining.Net and delivers both classroom and online training on writing, editing, eLearning development, and eLearning software. 

She teaches courses on how to write voiceover scripts, how to write step-by-step instructions, and how to create effective quizzes and tests.

She is a published author and co-author of numerous training books, including Essentials of Adobe Presenter, Editing with Microsoft Word, and Writing for Curriculum Development.

She does instructional design and courseware development for clients from financial institutions, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and professional training organizations.

But her first love is online and classroom course delivery. She has more than 20 years of experience in online training delivery, and is much loved for her enthusiasm and energy in the classroom setting, whether online or in person.
