So you know the basics of Captivate pretty well but you want to enhance your lessons. Captivate Advanced Actions can help you take you lessons to the next level. In this course, we will work through standard advanced actions. You will also learn how to create and use User-Defined Variables. These types of variables can collect data typed by the learner that can be recalled at any time throughout the course.
Attend this live online 3-hour class and you'll get clarity on what is often considered the murkiest part of mastering Adobe Captivate.
Note: This class is very interactive; exercise files will be provided for Captivate 9 or newer. If you are using previous versions of captivate you can attend the class but exercise files will not be provided. A trial version of Captivate is fine and can be downloaded from www.adobe.com.

System variables help you pick up data to help you control what is visible to the user; to display information in other files such as the current slide; to manipulate information from the learner’s computer; and to display quiz information.

The events that are triggered the action you choose. There are numerous types of actions that can be triggered when, you, the developer, decide.
- Basic Actions
A basic action is a one action that can be triggered when you, the developer, decides.
- Standard Actions
Standard actions can be one or more actions that are can trigger a variety of behaviors in sequence.
- User Variables
User variables are created by you, the developer, and are captured when the learner clicks or types something such as in a text entry box or click box to create a specific outcome.
About Your Instructor
Jennie Ruby is a veteran IconLogic trainer and author of Editing with Word 2007. Jennie specializes in electronic editing. At the American Psychological Association, she was manager of electronic publishing and manager of technical editing and journal production.
Jennie has an M.A. from George Washington University and is a Certified Technical Trainer (Chauncey Group). She is a publishing professional with 20 years of experience in writing, editing and desktop publishing.
