QuickBooks Overview Training--in just one hour!

QuickBooks is rated as one of the best accounting software programs for small businesses. In this QuickBooks Overview training class, we will cover the basic accounting terms you will need to know, as well as the two most important lists in QuickBooks--the Chart of Accounts and the Item List.

Who should attend this class?

Small business owners, beginning bookkeepers, or those interested in learning basic bookkeeping terminology and a quick introduction to QuickBooks. This is a demonstration class, so you do not need to currently have the software to attend. We will be working mostly in the desktop version of QuickBooks, but the concepts are the same for the online version..

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Anyone who wants to learn more about the formatting of a website. All you need is a basic text editor such as Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (Mac) and a browser. Knowledge of basic HTML codes is mandatory.

Topics covered include, but not limited to:

  • Basic Accounting Terms

A quick overview of some common accounting terms such as assets, liabilities, equity, and registers.

  • The Chart of Accounts

Perhaps THE most important part of QuickBooks is the Chart of Accounts. It is a list of all of your income, expense, banking, and other accounts. If this isn’t set up correctly, nothing else in QuickBooks will work the way you want it to! Luckily, QuickBooks offers some assistance in setting it up--you just need to tweak it.

  • Item List

The Item List is also very important! If you invoice your customers, then anything you want to appear on an invoice such as items, services, taxes, discounts, etc. must be in your Item List! This is not hard to do and the Item List can be modified at any time.
