Microsoft Word Ruler training

The Microsoft Word ruler is one of the most powerful and least understood parts of Microsoft Word. The ruler allows you to place and line up text in your document using indents and tabs. Come learn about the difference between indents and tabs, when to use each of them and how to have complete control over the placement of your text.

Who should attend this class?

Beginner to Intermediate users of any version of Word who want to finally understand how to use the ruler!

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Topics covered include, but not limited to:

  • Creating and modifying indents to create not only left and right indents, but first line and hanging indents as well

Indents are actually temporary margins and control the placement and alignment of text, borders and shading, and bullet placement.

  • Default vs. Custom Tabs

Word has default tabs, or you can customize your own tabs with 5 different kinds of tabs to place on the ruler. You will learn how to set, change and delete tabs.

  • Dot leader tabs

Dot leader tabs allow you to create a special look to your tabs; putting dots, dashes or underscores prior to your tab setting.
