Excel Macros Training

Excel Macros allow you to automate your work by creating a mini-program which completes repetitive tasks for you. Complicated macros require Visual Basic programming. This class will not cover programming. Instead, we will use the record feature to record some simple macros and then replay them. We will assign macros to keystrokes and buttons and learn how to do some basic editing of macros.

Who should attend this class?

Intermediate to Advanced users of any version of Excel who want an introduction to macros.

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Need something a little more personal?

We understand your team might have specific training needs and we would love to work with you. We offer both online and on-site instructor-led, fully customizable courses tailored to your training needs.

Anyone who wants to learn more about the formatting of a website. All you need is a basic text editor such as Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (Mac) and a browser. Knowledge of basic HTML codes is mandatory.

Topics covered include, but not limited to:

  • Steps to creating a macro

You want to plan your macro out before starting to record to be sure it is efficient and it works the way you expect! We will also discuss the correct ways to save macros in workbooks.

  • Record a macro and simple editing of the macro

When you record a macro, it records the Visual Basic required behind the scenes. We will record several and then try to do some simple editing of the Visual Basic to change how our macro works.

  • Assign a macro to a keystroke or to buttons to play the macro anytime.

Once you have created your macro, you can assign it to a keystroke combination, a button on the Quick Access Toolbar, or a clickable button on the spreadsheet itself!
