If you need to capture images of a program on your computer, you can use any one of several programs. For instance, we use SnagIt for the Macintosh (www.snagit.com) and FullShot (www.fullshot.com) for Windows to create the images that appear in our workbooks. Those individual screen captures can be inserted onto any Captivate slide as an image. From there, you can create an interactive simulation by manually adding click boxes, buttons, and more.

As an alternative to using a third-party application to create screen captures, you can use Adobe Captivate to record just about anything you can do on a computer.  During this live, online and very interactive class, you will not only learn to record your screen actions, you will learn some best practices and processes for creating the best screen captures possible.

Have you been frustrated with training classes that don’t give you a chance to practice your new-found skills during class? No worries. During this class there will be plenty of time to practice what you learn. In fact, you’ll be tasked with recording your own software simulation during the class (on your own) and then share your masterpiece  with your virtual classmates… all under the watchful eyes of your certificated instructor.

Who Should Attend?

  • eLearning developers who are new to Captivate
  • Managers, instructional designers, and others who need to understand Captivate
  • Anyone who is new to eLearning and needs to get started with Captivate

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Need something a little more personal?

We understand your team might have specific training needs and we would love to work with you. We offer both online and on-site instructor-led, fully customizable courses tailored to your training needs.

This class was formerly titled Adobe Captivate: Creating Software Simulations

Topics covered include:

  • Record a Demonstration

Software demonstrations allow you to capture any kind of screen action while adding such best-in-class eLearning features as a mouse pointer, captions, and highlight boxes.

  • Record an Assessment Simulation

Demonstrations are great, but if you really want to engage the learner, simulations are a great way to go. Using an Assessment Simulation, your learner will be able to actually perform each step on their own… but in a simulated environment.

  • Record a Training Simulation

Assessments allow your learners to interactive with your eLearning. However, if you want to provide a more guided approach to training, a Training Simulation is just the ticket. You can include “hints” throughout your lesson that help learners get past sticking points in your simulation.

  • Record a Hybrid Simulation

Demonstrations are awesome. And so are Training and Assessment simulations. However, all three modes have their weaknesses. Those weaknesses will be discussed and you’ll create a Custom simulation that will allow you to create awesome interactive eLearning faster than ever.

  • Record in Manual Mode

If the screen you are trying to capture isn’t cooperating (perhaps you’re trying to capture images of a mobile device, not a particular program), manual recordings might be a true life-saver.

Excellent value [One-on-One Captivate mentoring]. Lori really knows so much about Captivate and is great at explaining functionality. She is also very patient with questions! Definitely money well spent!
