For Compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act

This class covers how to create and revise PDFs for Accessibility and 508 Compliance. Adobe Acrobat Pro XI is covered.

Making sure your materials will meet the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act begins with authoring and designing them for accessibility in your authoring software (see Creating Accessible Documents with Microsoft Word).  However, a PDF may need additional revisions, settings, and testing, and that is the main focus of this mini course.

During the course you will learn to recognize basic accessibility problems, practice using the Accessibility Checker, and correct problems with metadata, settings, tagging, reading order, and table formatting. You will also learn the basics of creating accessible forms in Acrobat.

Who Should Attend?

If you need to create accessible course materials, reports, or other electronic information for a Federal agency, or you contract for or receive funding from a Federal agency, you are no doubt required to the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. This class is for you.

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.
