Conditional Actions, Multiple Decision Blocks, Shared Actions... who knew that there was so much to Captivates Advanced Actions?

If you've spent any time playing with Captivate, you know that you can easily make an object (Button, Click Box, or Text Entry Box) interactive. In fact, to make an object perform a standard Action, it's a simple matter of selecting the object and visiting the Actions tab on the Properties Inspector (common actions include jumping to a slide, playing a sound, or even opening a website or a file). But what if you want to click a button and make that happen and at the same time make that happen... and that, but not that... and oh, yes, calculate that? This is a job for Advanced Actions!

Attend this live online 3-hour class and you'll get clarity on what is often considered the murkiest part of mastering Adobe Captivate.

Note: This class is very interactive; exercise files will be provided for Captivate 9 or newer. If you are using previous versions of captivate you can attend the class but exercise files will not be provided. A trial version of Captivate is fine and can be downloaded from www.adobe.com

Before attending this class you should take Actions and Variables 101 or have similar experience. Click here to view the course content for Actions and Variables 101.

Where is this class held?

This is a live, online class led by a field expert; and just like an in-person class, it is fully interactive and engaging. The difference between an online and onsite class? No travel! You can participate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Many of our students choose to stay home from work on these training days, some never even changing out of their slippers! Where applicable, students are able to speak with and hear from the instructor and other participants throughout the course as they work in real-time to complete activities.

Topics covered will include some of the following:

  • Conditional Actions

If you intend to build complex interactions or create games in Captivate, conditional actions are the way to go. Conditional actions allow you to create different actions for specific situations. For instance, during this class you will create a custom menu. Your learners must view all of the lessons before they can move on.

  • Multiple Decision Blocks

What makes conditional actions even more powerful is the ability to add numerous decisions blocks that are executed, one after the other, in a specific sequence. Using Decision Blocks you can gather multiple criteria in order to personalize and branch the learner to specific areas in your course.

  • Shared Actions

If you’ve created custom actions in your project, it is possible to share them within the same course or export to other courses. You will learn how to do that during this portion of the class.
