Adobe Captivate 4

Important Note About Captivate 4 and Compliance: We frequently receive emails from customers who download our data files and find that some of the files won't fully open (the project name appears in the title bar, but the project just does not open).

The problem is not with the our data files. Unfortunately, the root cause of the problem is users running Vista or Windows 7, 64-bit. According to Adobe, Adobe Captivate 4 is not 64-bit compliant.

Adobe has released a few patches that will take care of files not fully opening. Go to your Help menu and select updates. Install the Updates and your projects will now open.

There is another 64-bit issue. During modules 2 and 3 of our Essentials book, and module 1 of the Beyond Essentials book, you are instructed to record desktop actions. You won't be able to do that on 64-bit systems (Captivate will crash). Instead, come up with a different lesson to record (we suggest recording a few simple steps in your Web browser).
